Danish Superliga: Goals Above Three

The Danish Superliga has twelve clubs, and in the last two seasons it has become one of the highest scoring leagues in our data. Both teams score in nearly six matches out of ten, and the goals average has risen by half a goal since 2021/22. The table below holds the league’s tips from an outside prediction provider, shown as published.

The figures use 1,144 matches since the start of 2021 from public results files. They cover goals and results, but not corners or cards.

Matches averaged 2.89 goals, and over 2.5 landed in 55.1%. Both teams scored in 58.4% of matches, a higher rate than all but two of the 18 European leagues: only the Bundesliga (60.1%) and the 2. Bundesliga (58.6%) were above it.

Goals have jumped

The average wasn’t always this high. Over the last five full seasons it ran 2.65, 2.74, 2.82, 3.14 and 3.10 goals a match.

The jump came in 2024/25, and it’s held. The current season has 3.02 across 66 matches, which is too few to confirm anything.

A goals line built on 2021/22 would be about half a goal too low now. If you’re using older numbers, update them.

Home and away

Home teams won 41.6% of matches and away teams 31.0%. Draws were 27.4%. The home side scored 1.54 goals a match and the visitors 1.35, a gap of only 0.19 goals, and the visitors scored in 74.0% of matches against 78.6% for the hosts.

The home win rate moved from season to season, running 39.4%, 39.9%, 40.4%, 45.3% and 41.7%.

Draws moved too, from 30.6% in 2021/22 down to 23.4% in the latest full season. Swings of five or six points are normal in a twelve-club league, where each season has fewer than 200 matches.

Covers

Adding the results gives the covers. Home win or draw landed in 69.0% of matches, away win or draw in 58.4% and either team winning in 72.6%. The away cover is stronger than in most leagues, and the home cover weaker.

Scorelines

The most common score was 1-1 (12.2%), followed by 2-1 (9.7%), 1-0 (8.8%), 1-2 (7.0%) and 2-2 (6.9%). A 2-2 draw in the top five is unusual, and only 5.9% of matches ended 0-0.

How reliable are favourites?

Favourites at 55% to 65% won 61.2%, in line with the price. At 65% or more the sample is small, only 91 matches, and the favourites won 68.1%, a bit below the 77% we see in Europe at the same price. Don’t assume a short price is safe in Denmark.

Both teams scoring

BTTS is high because both sides score regularly. The home team scored in 78.6% of matches (100% minus the 21.4% it was blanked) and the away team in 74.0%. Multiply the two and you get 58.2%, close to the actual 58.4%.

So Denmark’s BTTS rate isn’t a quirk of a few matches. It’s the product of two sides that each score in about three matches out of four.

When the matches are played

Sunday carries 60.8% of the league’s matches, Monday 15.6% and Friday 13.5%. Saturday is rare.

Corners and cards

We don’t have corner or card data for Denmark. The results file has goals and prices only. If you bet on those lines, use the general rules on our corner and card pages and check the referee. We won’t publish European numbers and call them Danish.

Five rules for Danish tips

  1. Lean on BTTS and overs. BTTS starts at 58.4% and over 2.5 at 55.1%.
  2. Use current seasons. The goals line changed by half a goal.
  3. Cover with the away side sooner. X2 lands 58.4% of the time.
  4. Be cautious with short prices. Strong favourites won 68.1%.
  5. Skip lines we can’t measure. Corners and cards need other data.

Common mistakes

The first is using the old goals average. The league scored 2.65 goals a match in 2021/22 and about 3.1 now.

The second is assuming a home win. Home teams won only 41.6%.

The third is treating a 2-2 as a freak result. It’s one of the five commonest scores.
