The Scottish Premiership has twelve clubs. They play each other three times and then split into two groups of six for five more matches, which makes 228 matches a season. It’s a small league with an outsized effect on the numbers: it has more corners than any other league in our data, the biggest home advantage, and one of the lowest draw rates. The table below holds the league’s tips from an outside prediction provider, shown as published.
The figures use 1,140 Premiership matches from 2021/22 to 2025/26.

More Predictions
The corner league
Scottish Premiership matches averaged 10.62 corners, more than any of the other 17 leagues. Over 9.5 landed in 61.3% of matches and over 10.5 in 49.0%.
| Corner line | Landed |
|---|---|
| Over 8.5 | 71.2% |
| Over 9.5 | 61.3% |
| Over 10.5 | 49.0% |
| Over 11.5 | 38.2% |
The league average across all 18 is 9.78, so the gap is nearly a full corner. A line that’s a coin toss in most of Europe is a lean to the over here. Home teams took 54.0% of the corners.
Home advantage
Home teams won 46.0% of Premiership matches, the highest rate of the 18 leagues. Away teams won 30.1% and 23.9% were drawn. The away side failed to score in 33.8% of matches, one of the highest rates, while the home side failed in 21.4%.
That shapes the covers too. Home win or draw (1X) landed 69.9% of the time and either side winning (12) landed 76.1%, tied with the Premier League as the highest in the data.
Goals and BTTS
Matches averaged 2.78 goals, and over 2.5 landed in 53.7%. BTTS was lower at 50.8%, and it has moved only a little from season to season, running 49%, 50%, 50%, 54% and 52%. The gap between the two is partly explained by the away side’s trouble scoring.
Half-time and full-time
The home side led at half-time in 37.4% of matches, more often than the break was level (36.8%). Only the Bundesliga shows the same pattern. A home lead and home win was the most common half-time/full-time result of any league, at 29.4%, and away teams that were level at the break and went on to win were rare at 9.0%.
Turnarounds, where the leader at half-time loses, happened in 5.96% of matches, among the highest rates in the data, about one in seventeen.
Shots
Scottish teams had 8.46 shots on target a match, close to the average, but they turned 32.9% of them into goals, the second highest conversion rate of the 18 leagues, behind the Bundesliga. The side with more shots on target won 62.6% of matches and lost only 13.6%. When the better side creates more, it usually wins, which fits the league’s home edge.
Cards
Cards are close to average. Yellows averaged 3.77 a match and a red card appeared in 18.5%. It takes 6.08 fouls to earn a yellow.
Eleven referees took charge of at least 50 matches, and their yellow card averages ran from 3.07 to 4.42 against a league average of 3.77. As elsewhere, the referee is the first thing to check on a card line.
The Old Firm and the rest
Celtic won the title in 2024/25 with 92 points and 112 goals, 17 ahead of Rangers on 75, with Hibernian third on 58.
In 2025/26 Celtic finished on 82, only two ahead of Hearts on 80, with Rangers third on 72. The tables come from the results in our data.
The margin changed from a procession to a race in one season. That matters for prices on the favourites: a wide gap makes heavy favourites reasonable, and a narrow one doesn’t.
Five rules for Scottish Premiership tips
- Start from the corners. 10.62 a match is the highest in the data, so a line set for a European average is too low.
- Respect home advantage. 46.0% home wins, with the away side blanked one match in three.
- Don’t over-rely on BTTS. It lands only about half the time.
- Check the referee. The spread is more than a card.
- Be careful with half-time leads. The league has one of the higher turnaround rates.
Common mistakes
The first is using corner lines from other leagues. In Scotland the line that’s a toss-up is 10.5.
The second is expecting a lot of goals in a high-corner league. Corners and goals aren’t linked, and over 2.5 was 53.7%.
The third is ignoring how small the league is. Twelve clubs play each other repeatedly, so the same matchups come round again and again.
Questions people ask
How many clubs are in the Scottish Premiership? Twelve.
How many matches does each club play? 38.
How many corners per match? 10.62 on average.
Who has won the league recently? Celtic finished top in both completed seasons in our data.
Is home advantage big in Scotland? Yes. 46.0% home wins, the highest of the 18 leagues.
Why are there so many corners? Our data shows the number but not the reason. It could be style of play or pitch size, and we can’t tell which.
Do Scottish matches go over 2.5 often? 53.7% of the time, a little above the 18-league average of 50.7%.
Where are other leagues? See Liga Portugal and Belgium.
Tips are estimates, not promises. You must be 18 or over to bet, and a stake should be money you can do without.
